Ordering a Capture Card Installation

General Information

Customers will receive the shipping information once an order is placed, please include your DCXXXX number on the first line of the address or inside the package. Ensure the package is protected as any damage to the item on arrival is the responsibility of the sender.

Customers only need to send the console. A SD card can be sent (If the console is using CFW) however please backup valuable data before sending the console, this can be done with GodMode9

We recommend US buyers to send to us via USPS’s $26 option (this may vary in cost depending on your location), please ask for this at your local post office. However please be aware that USPS can refuse to send Lithium Ion batteries, if this occurs please just send the console without a battery.

When sending your console please value at appropriately as any customs fees incurred due to the value of the console being too high is payable by the sender, please also be aware that this value is also the amount you are insured for. The value a customs fee will trigger at is around $110.

FAQ

Where is the product I saw previously?

If a product is not visible on our site, it is either sold out with no backorders, or sold out with no current stock available.

Do you install capture cards into 2DS or New 3DS (non‑XL)?

We currently do not offer installations for DS, DSi, New 3DS (original size), or 2DS as standard services. If you already have the parts, we can provide the installation service. We are actively looking into New 3DS (non‑XL) and 2DS options as reliable methods become available.

I have a 3DS/3DS XL and the bottom screen colors look wrong in DS titles.

This is a calibration issue. In the n3DSView settings, adjust the “bottom screen” calibration until the image looks correct.

Nothing happens when I plug in my capture card.

Please install the USB driver from the Driver folder included with the viewer software, then unplug and reconnect the capture card. If it still does not connect, try a different USB port or cable.

Where do I get the viewer software?

New 3DS, New 3DS XL, New 2DS XL: http://non-standard.com/ols/new3DSview_ver211.zip
3DS, 3DS XL, 2DS: http://non-standard.com/ols/n3DSview_ver1211.zip

I get frame drops but only when OBS is open.

This is often caused by a Window Capture or Game Capture hooking the viewer window. Create a fresh OBS scene collection, then add sources one by one. Disable window/game captures until the frame drops stop, then adjust that source’s settings.

Will the capture card affect my CFW or software?

No. The capture card is a direct hardware connection to the video lines and does not modify software or CFW.

How can I change a Japanese console to English?

You can use CFW or locale emulation, which is outside the scope of our service. Consoles we source are typically JP region to keep costs down. DS games are not region‑locked, but 3DS games are and will not appear if the region does not match.

Can you repair my console at the same time as a capture card install?

Yes. Add a repair option to your cart and include details in the order notes.

How long will I wait for dispatch?

Typical turnaround is 25–30 working days, but this can extend up to 3 months depending on workload, parts availability, shipping delays, and family commitments. In‑stock items usually dispatch in 3–5 working days.

My address has changed. How can I update it?

Send an email with your new address and we will update it manually.

Why do you remove the IR sensor on 3DS XL consoles?

The Micro USB port fits there cleanly because the console already has an opening in that location once the IR sensor is removed; this was a design choice made by Optimize. A USB‑C upgrade or a “Keep IR” option will leave the IR sensor intact.

What is the IR sensor used for?

The IR sensor is used for accessories like the external NFC Amiibo scanner and the Circle Pad Pro. It does not affect Pokémon trading.

I’ve lost my product key / new3DSView is asking for a key.

Find your Device ID in the viewer software menu bar, then enter it (case‑sensitive) here: https://optimize.ath.cx/productkey_en.html

Optimize vs Loopy capture cards — what’s the difference?

If you choose a USB‑C port install, both are functionally similar for capture and charging. Some videos suggest Loopy has better quality, but in my own blind tests I could not tell a difference with correct settings. I install both types. Optimize capture cards with USB‑C are typically cheaper. I do not manufacture capture cards — I only install and modify them.
